What Mindbody does and who it suits
Mindbody is business management software for fitness, wellness and beauty businesses. Its pricing page lists three plans, Starter, Accelerate and Ultimate. Starter covers business management tools, integrated payments, branded website booking widgets, a website, a listing on the Mindbody app and basic reporting. Accelerate adds analytics, room and resource management, Pick-a-Spot and promo codes. Ultimate adds automated email and text marketing, a lead pipeline and an AI front desk.
Best suited for
Mindbody's own FAQ says it is a good fit for "small businesses and solo entrepreneurs," "growing businesses that want to attract and keep more clients, and multi-location businesses that need to run everything from one platform." It also says it "may not be a fit for independent, one-person operators who rent time at a shared location and only need basic booking and payment solutions."

The arithmetic on those published prices
Mindbody's published floor is $948 a year for one location. Our all-in retainer is $1,188 a year after a $2,250 one-time build. Mindbody's number moves with your plan and locations; ours is the published flat price.
Card processing: check your own statement
Mindbody does not publish its processing rate. Its pricing page says Mindbody Payments charges "a payment processing rate plus a fixed fee of $0.10 to $0.30" per transaction and that the rate varies by card-present, card-not-present and payment type. So check your own statement: total processing fees for the month, divided by total card volume billed, is your effective rate.
- 1Every 1 percentage point on $25,000 a month of card volume is $250 a month, or $3,000 a year. That is just $25,000 × 0.01.
- 2Stripe publishes 2.9% + 30¢ per successful domestic card charge (stripe.com/pricing).
- 3On $25,000 a month across 175 charges, Stripe's published rate is $25,000 × 2.9% = $725, plus 175 × $0.30 = $52.50. That is $777.50 a month, $9,330 a year.
- 4Subtract $777.50 from your own monthly fee total to see your own gap. Multiply by 12 for the year.

“Gym Owners Beware”
I am a gym owner and started using Mindbody in 2020. The app itself is fine. Not the most user friendly. Adding classes to the schedule or creating sales packages can only be done on the desktop site - not in the app. This is not the end of the world.
But when I found a more user friendly app this year and requested to cancel, Mindbody emailed back saying i was locked into a contract until 2023 even though I never signed anything dictating such.
When i requested a copy of the contract, Mindbody refused to show me proof and replied I needed to find it myself in DocuSign.
I then called. After being bounced around between 6 different representatives and being on hold for over 2 hours, Mindbody finally admitted there was no contract.
We were able to cancel and had to pay $499 to transfer all of our members’ data. Mindbody sent a plethora of information in several spreadsheets including every transaction we have ever made (waters, protein bars, etc). But they did not send a simple active client list.
We have emailed and called everyday for the last two weeks. Email responses are condescending- implying we don’t see the data in front of us. And when we called yesterday we were on hold for an hour before they hung up on us.
They still refuse to furnish our members’ data and we have been unable to charge our existing monthly members since switching platforms.
Gym owners beware. The Mindbody app looks nice. But their business practices and customer service are deplorable if/when you decide to switch.
