The arithmetic on those published prices

On published software prices alone: $2,388 a year at Spark's list price against $1,188 a year for our all-in retainer is a $1,200 a year difference. Our $2,250 one-time build is that difference for 1.9 years ($2,250 ÷ $1,200). Nothing above includes card processing, because Spark does not publish a rate.

Card processing: check your own statement

Spark's pricing page does not publish a card processing rate, so we will not guess one. Find your real number on your own statement: divide last month's total processing fees by the total card volume you billed. That is your effective rate.

  1. 1Every 1 percentage point on $20,000 a month of card volume is $200 a month, or $2,400 a year. That is just $20,000 × 0.01.
  2. 2Stripe publishes 2.9% + 30¢ per successful domestic card charge (stripe.com/pricing, read 2026-09-26).
  3. 3On $20,000 a month across 150 charges, Stripe's published rate is $20,000 × 2.9% = $580, plus 150 × $0.30 = $45. That is $625 a month, $7,500 a year.
  4. 4Subtract $625 from your own monthly fee total to see your own gap. Multiply by 12 for the year.
